John, What an lovely gift you have shared with us in telling us about your stammering. Thank you for sharing your story. You do a wonderful job of illustrating to those of us who don't stutter, or who do overtly, what it feels like to try to hide the problem. I chuckled in reading the anecdote you shared with Ashley in the comments, about your friend of many years believing you to have made this all up. There's the pay off for hiding so well, eh?
