Hi Sarah, Yours is my favorite name (that's my daughter's name, with the h). You may be surprised that I do remember the treatment I received many years ago, as if it were yesterday. I remember very clearly one clinician who didn't require that I speak unless I wanted to; he walked with me and let me talk or listen to the stream, whichever I preferred (you may want to take a look at 'A Way Through the Forest: One Boy's Story With a Happy Ending' on p. 299 of the "big book" referred to in my bio, also retrievable from the Stuttering Home Page). I remember that clinician with fondness and appreciation. He accepted me and liked me whether I was fluent or not. I remember another clinician who required, as a first step in treatment, that I read out loud to her. I couldn't read out loud. Why didn't she know that? She expected me to approach my most challenging task first, the one I hoped to master by the end of treatment, without a foundation of fluency success. I don't have the best memories about that. About treatment that I recommend, you're asking a BIG question. See if you can find a copy of my book. Let me know if I might help with any questions. Just remember that much can be done to help people who stutter of any age. It is never too late. Best of luck to you. David
