Dear Hanifa, "Interactive sessions," as you put it, are a key element of the therapy relationship with children (and with adults)because they model an essential characteristic of healthy communication, which is the primary goal of treatment. Stories definitely help establish that focus. Following bibliotherapy guidelnes, the child can become freer to express feelings by first referencing characters in the story; consider and learn to understand various feelings along with a variety of differing personal perspectives that generate them; and acquire useful problem-solving skills to work with feelings through dialogue managed by the therapist that was triggered by the story being read. Thank you for sharing your views. Ellen-Marie Silverman
