Dear Michelle, I believe that until the infrastructure is in place to provide training programs in most of these developing nations, the self help movement is really the reasonable alternative. Self help is not speech therapy, but it can be very therapeutic. I would urge you to read some the papers and posts in this and other ISAD conferences by people like Moussa Dao from Burkina Faso and Joseph Lukong from Cameroon for perfect examples of what I just mentioned.
