I don't think this is a matter of evidence. Metaphores may be functioning as a mental support to trigger the feeling of control or to clearify other processes in therapy in other stuttering clients.Research?!:There hasn’t been written much about the use of metaphors in stuttering therapy. In my search for some scientific literature on this matter, I found a very interesting article in the field of top sport by the Russian professor Yuri Hanin who works in Finland. You can find this entire article on the internet. * “Performance Related Emotional States in Sport: A Qualitative Analysis” by Yuri L. Hanin The metaphor generation method = an instrument developed to identify self-generated metaphors and interpretative descriptors of feeling states prior to, during, and after best ever and worst ever competitions (HANIN & STAMBULOVA, 2002).
