Thanks for your honesty, Gina. As someone who has seen bullying from two perspectives - a schoolkid and a teacher - I've often been amazed at how cruel children can be. I remember a pupil of mine who tried to hang himself. He failed, and was off school for three months. When he came back, did the bullies who had driven him to this feel ashamed? Not in the least. They drew 'hangman' pictures on the blackboard, pretended to strangle each other, joked about him being too fat for the rope to hold him... Their lack of empathy was stunning, and made me wonder exactly what creatures I had in my classroom, and was supposed to teach. I'm so glad you came out of your painful experiences with such a positive attitude. (John)
