Well, it's probably a Million Dollar Answer if there is one! :-) The only explanation so far is that the various "traumas" to the brain stem area temporarily upset the delicate balance, causing changes to speech and other things. That the changes to speech were temporarily *positive* is what's difficult to explain. I think that a rigorous fMRI study might possibly provide some answers. I'd certainly be willing to be a test mule...
