Hi Kathy, Thank you for your interest. My personal experience (and contact with many hundreds of PWS during recent years) indicates that avoidance plays a major part in stuttering. I constructed a vast array of avoidance ploys and became so proficient at using them that they became second nature to me. Avoidance was first brought to my attention five years. Once I realised the implications, I adopted a zero-tolerance avoidance policy with heartening results. You may wish to read a poem that I wrote for the ISAD Online Conference last year.
