Hi Mr. Badmington, I am a graduate student at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. I am also the mother of a child (11 year old girl) who stutters. Your letter is an inspiration. Thank you for sharing it! I understand from your letter that you created a hierarchy of difficult situations to speak in, in order to challenge yourself and "rise above" your stuttering. A client in the fluency council that I attend is using this hierarchy method to try to combat his "fears" of stuttering as well as to help him find "acceptance" of his stuttering. My question is this: Did you attend counseling to address the attitudinal component to stuttering, and if so, do you credit counseling with helping you accept yourself? Most Respectfully, Amy Soule
