Hi Aegonsoulin, Thank you, so much, for taking the time to respond to my paper. I fully support your statement that "stuttering is more than just the incoordination of various muscles". Have you read the 'hexagon concept'? You can find further details by clicking on the following links: http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/Infostuttering/Harrison/hexagonarticle.html http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/Infostuttering/Harrison/john.htm http://www.mnsu.edu/comdis/kuster/Infostuttering/badmington.pdf What triggered the onset of my stuttering? I simply don’t know, although I suspect that it was due to the intervention of my grandmother when I was aged about 3 years. I can recall her asking me to repeat things when I experienced difficulties. I had a wonderful relationship with my parents, who never did anything to undermine my confidence or self-esteem. Yet, I cannot ever recall having a meaningful discussion with them about my stutter. During recent times, I have spoken openly about stuttering with total strangers – on trains, planes, in the street etc. Sadly, neither of my parents lived long enough to witness the transformation that has taken place during the past five years. Although they loved me unconditionally (irrespective of my speech difficulties), I know that they would have been delighted to share in my liberation. Thank you, again, for taking the time to correspond with me. I wish you every future success with your studies. Kindest regards Alan
