Alan- I really enjoyed reading your story. Your story gave great insight into stuttering itself and what someone who stutters might experience or have to overcome/cope with on a daily basis when simply trying to communicate. Your story opened my eyes to how multifauceted stuttering really is, which why it is so complex to understand as well as treat. I had never thought of all the potential contributing factors that you mentioned in your story. Thanks for the informaation. I am curious to know if you believe that focusing on changing a person's mindset and beliefs relating to their speech, is the missing component that many people who stutter as well as professionals working with these individuals have never considered or implemented?? Do you feel that all people who stutter would benefit from changing their mindset, beliefs, self-image,etc. or do you feel that was solely a personal solution?? If you feel it would be beneficial to all people who stutter, how does one go about starting the changes in their lives?? Does one need to seek out professional counseling or help?? How did you find the motivation to make the changes? Sorry for all the questions, I am very intrigued in the things you brought up in your story. Also at what age did you begin to change your mindset and your self-limiting beliefs? Also at what age was it that you felt that stuttering was no longer an issue for you? Thank you for your time and openess, your story is remarkable! Thanks again.
