Reading your paper was so encouraging. I could not believe some of the situations you dealt with through your life. I, myself, am not a person who deals with a stuttering problem. However, I had a short glimpse of the feelings associated with stuttering while completing a class project….and that was difficult. But it did give me a pseudo-true understanding of how people view people who stutter in the community. What surprised me the most was some of the comments people said to you throughout school. I would think a counselor would be more supportive and encourage you to seek information or assistance, not tell you to find a job to hide your difficulties. But even with all of the negative connotations you had to deal with you were still able to find the power to overcome the stigma other people had embedded in your mind and go about your life on your own terms. This is a story that should be told and I encourage you to relay it to other people who deal with a stuttering problem. You would be able to help so many people just by showing them how you CAN live with your difference rather than run from it!
