Tim Mackesey, hello, hello! Great to hear from you. I like your advice that "stuttering is what it means to you." I agree with you that humor is great in dealing with stuttering. I'm toying around with the idea of writing a humor column or short story about stuttering (cheap plug: http://www.robbloom.com/creative.html To answer your questions: How can pws integrate more humor into: 1) handling the very moment of stuttering as and where it happens? **It's tough and everybody has a different style. People need to find something that's comfortable for them. Lately I've done doing a few different things where I'll make a joke about being "blocked up" or even say "blah blah blah" just to break the tension and also to get the flow of speech going again. But some people may not be comfortable with that. Everybody has a different style, but I DO think that humor is a great way to put stuttering into perspective. 2) humor in general to "advertise" stuttering...to take away the stigma and change the meaning of it? **Pretty much the same answer to #1. But it all depends what the PWS is comfortable with doing. Tim, great to hear from you! -rb
