Hi Sheila, You always want to have some parent input. They need to buy into what the goals are for the child. If nothing else, they need to know WHY the goals are what they are and what they can do to help acheive them. As children get older, they have to have a bigger say in therapy and take responsibility for their own progress (adolescent children). It's important to remember that while the child's goals and parents' goals should be taken into consideration, the SLP will be the one determining the specific criteria for achieving these objectives.
