Hi Kate. Thanks very much for the questions. I think that I always clutter in my mind. For me it is an effort to think normally and to speak normally. I'm just used to now making that effort all of the time, and now I know how to do it. I don't think that anything triggers cluttered thought or speech, because to me it always seems there. It's just that I use a framework of "normal" thought and speech to unclutter my speech. The most helpful therapy techniques for me were: Self monitoring, thinking and speaking in terms of having a point, thinking and speaking in terms of what other people are experiencing in a conversation, practice storytelling, practice reading and talking aloud without cluttering. To your therapy question: absolutely I would have wanted therapy as a child if more were known about cluttering. It has only been in the last couple of years that I have really felt that I could connect to people, and a very good therapy program would have taught me that skill. Imagine how valuable that would have been to me if I would have had that skill all of my life. That's what a good speech therapist can do with a cluttering client. Thanks, Joseph
