Hi Tom, At this point, DNA is useless without a good diagnosis to go with it. In the future, should we be so fortunate as to find a specific change in DNA that causes stuttering, we may be able to make conclusions with just DNA alone. However, not all stuttering is due to genetic causes, and the severity of stuttering in any one person probably has little to do with genetics. So DNA is unlikely to ever have the final say in anything. Since you mention it, do you have any ideas on how I could do exactly as you propose, obtain DNA from 1000 PWS and 1000 age-matched, gender-matched, population-matched control individuals? I could make very good use of such a resource.
