I enjoyed the article that you presented and I hope that one day stuttering will be able to be attributed to a specific gene or genes that could in turn be treated. In regards to the comment that 50% of stuttering cases are attributed to genetic factors and the other 50% are from unknown causes, do you think it is possible that perhaps a gene that causes stuttering lies inside everyone’s genes? The reason I am asking this is because some individuals start stuttering after a traumatic event. Because of this maybe an individual who suffers a head trauma has stuttering in their genes, but, the stuttering was dormant before the trauma and the trauma cause the stuttering in the person to in essence “waken” and cause the individual to stutter. Any comments that you can contribute are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
