I think stuttering is a combination of genetic and environmental factors and if an individual is predisposed to being a stutterer, the environment will only increase that possibilty. Therefore, it is my opinion that it is very important to conduct genetic studies so that even if environmental factors influence the frequency of stuttering, it will no longer be a valid contributing factor to stuttering behaviors once the genetic factors have been taken care of. The main point is that more in-depth studies should be conducted on large and small populations that are similar and diverse in order to find out more about the cause of stuttering. Rachel
