I thought this would be an interesting contribution to the stuttering and animals thread... I treated a school-age child, I'll call him Pedro. Pedro's family had a parrot. When generating his hierarchy of stress list, Pedro wrote that talking to his parrot was one of his most stressful speaking situations. It was a situation that he often avoided.//In a way, it's kind of sad. It's sad to me that Pedro would avoid interacting with the very thing that people are supposed to get enjoyment and satisfaction from... the family pet.// By the way, Pedro never mentioned to me whether the parrot mimicked his stuttering or not.
