Dear SM, I thought I mentioned that about 20% of all children stutter at some point, often around the time they are learning to speak. At this frequency, some people are tempted to suggest that stuttering is in fact a normal part of speech development. Persistent stuttering, of course, appears to be something else and of course much less common.
