Dear Janet, Stuttering can co-exist with many other disorders. Us geneticists call such cases syndromic, that is, stuttering occurs in combination with a specific set of other signs and symptoms. These syndromic presentations are very difficult to understand at the level of specific cells and molecules in the brain, and they have not been systematically catalogued. If you see a lot of such cases, you may wish to start keeping careful track of their symptoms. We could use more publications in this area.
