Dear Laura, Thanks for sharing your clinical experience. There's an old saying that almost no one stutters when they talk to their dog, but I don't know of any evidence showing if this is true or not. My son stuttered quite severely for a brief period around the age of 4, but he never seemed to stutter when he talked to our dog. A study size of 1 doesn't count for much, but perhaps your client's stress level was increased by the fact that a parrot can talk back.
