Interesting response you got from Marija who lives in Croatia. What I contacted people in three different countries to write up some information about a famous person who stutters in their country, they chose not to because of the negative feelings about stuttering in their country, and writing something up might be perceived as an insult to that person. I also asked a person from Somalia what the word for stuttering is in his country and when he told me, he said that one would never say that word in the presence of a person who stutters because it is a word of insult. Those comments make a conference like this, and a paper like this one, very important in my opinion, for a world where many need information about stuttering - both those who stutter, and those who don't.
