Thank you for your interesting summary of historical and current paradigms re stuttering therapy. I am surprised that stuttering modification/desensitization/psychosocial aspects of treatment are not used much, in favor of fluency shaping. Is there a particular reason that fluency shaping has "predominated"? Many clinicians in the States (including myself) feel that the psychosocial aspects (including desensitization) would be helpful to treat the "whole person." Thanks, Florence
