My concern for self-disclosure is that the stutterer would then put the focus on the handicap as opposed to what is being said. It’s kind of like the “Where’s Waldo” books- if a person knows it’s out there they’ll look for it, as their curiosity has increased. I also wonder that if a stutterer discloses the handicap they are making a point out of something that shouldn’t matter in an interaction between two individuals.
