Hey Retz! Great to hear from you! You? Fearless? Ha, ha, ha! Retz, you give an entirely new definition to that word! Ha, ha, ha! Actually what I'm saying at the core level is that it takes BOTH kinds of therapy (fluency work and psychological support) to effectively treat a person who stutters. And that concept is hardly new. However, what probably IS new is VISUALIZING the placement of individuals and categories of stutterers on a chart or "matrix." You're right, when I present that visualization concept to a group of non math or engineering majors in university settings, I do get a lot of blank stares. Typically people in the "helping professions" tend NOT to think in terms of charts and graphs. And the concept of "force vectors" - which come so natural to us "inguneers" - is almost incomprehensible to liberal arts type students. But hey, try to explain Indian music to me some day and you'll get that same blank stare. Yes, it's really cool stuff, but thank God I don't have to UNDERSTAND it. As long as it works...! Thanks for your comments, Retz. Hope to see you in Long Beach next summer. (Or maybe ASHA in November...?) Russ
