The combination of this article and the original Iceberg article articles gives so much insight to what people who stutter experience. It makes so much sense that there would be underlying emotional "baggage" that needs to be addressed during treatment for stuttering. What I wonder is, how do people NOT see this? Is it just that we, as a society, put so much responsibility on the person who stutters to fix their own problem? Also, wouldn't the general lack of patience with people who stutter in general magnify the underlying fear and negative emotions associated with stuttering? There probably aren't any easy answers for this, just as nothing in this world is simple, but thanks for taking the time to consider! --vanessa
