Hi Jerry, Thanks for your comments. Yes, little stuff on the top, big stuff on the bottom - at least those stutterers who have density greater than 50%. The force vectors (the diagonal lines pointing toward the origin) tend to dictate the best mixtures of fluency work and support work for each individual stutterer. Lots of fluency work for a covert stutterer, for example, doesn't make much sense. They need lot of support. They even have an entire listserv for support, Covert-S. And it's invaluable! .... Yeah, I saw that Three Wishes show too. The media DEMANDS simple answers to complex problems. Oh well... ..... You are correct about each person needing different therapies. The problem with that is that a LOT of stutterers of every kind will say "make me fluent" when what they really need is a way to communicate more comfortably and confidently. That's the real challenge for SLPs. .... And I definitely agree with you and your GO FOR IT statement. ACTION is the key. You gotta DO SOMETHING, not just sit there and feel sorry for yourself! .... Glad you enjoyed the paper. And happy ISAD day! Even though I not SAD, IHAPPY! <smile> .... Russ
