I think lay people should be able to make significant commentaries to bodies of work. Even without formal training, their opinions could be very thought provoking, allowing stutterers to give first-hand accounts. In the field I’m currently working in, some of the best ideas I’ve gotten have come from my parents and friends, only one of which is in the same field as myself.
