Tom - Thanks for starting this thread. The question you posed to Dr. Lavid is one that I have wanted to ask. I have been accepted into the current Pagoclone clinical trial but have postponed my participation after consultation with my physician, who felt that it would be best to hold off until a pressing obligation I have is completed. (My physician told me that Pagoclone appears to be a cousin of Valium and he was worried about potential sedation). From reading Dr. Maguire’s journal articles on Dopamine trials and from what I know about Pagoclone, I wonder whether Pagoclone’s effect on stuttering is not so much aimed at the “root cause” (not that we know the cause of stuttering) but more at the secondary anticipatory anxiety…. Dr. Lavid – I have great admiration for your work. I think your book, “Understanding Stuttering” is a very important text. My question to you is: DO you think it is safe for someone to take Olanzapine for their stuttering in the manner Dr. Maguire defines? Also, do you think a reliable drug therapy solution for stuttering is will be available in the near future…will this riddle be solved?(I know these are loaded questions). Thanks! Lloyd
