Hello Sarah, There are no medications that can prevent stuttering, as the current pharmacologic approach is to treat the symptoms. There are no medications that target the cause of stuttering. This type of treatment is the mainstay of applied pharmacology, and is analogous to taking Tylenol to reduce one’s fever during an infection. The Tylenol does not treat address the infection directly, but targets the bodies’ response, e.g., fever.
