Thanks, Alan, for your comments and question. Jill is correct in that we are not concerned about obtaining speech measures during the video conferencing. We do work with the client on speech control procedures should that be warranted. Nothing happens, however, without the parents being present for every session, either in person or via video conferencing. Many of our video sessions are with the parents only to answer questions or respond to how they handled certain situations. As you can surmise, the convenience of video conferencing cannot be overstated. I might add that the goal of our program is not to make the child more fluent. Our goal is to teach the child how to control speech. Decreased stuttering is usually the end result. We are just as pleased, and so are the child and parents, if stuttering is reduced to not being a factor in the child's decision making process each day.
