Tiffanie, Before engaging in this type of distance therapy, I wondered the same thing. I believe it was important that we met in-person to establish a relationship before beginning the on-line encounters. Once that relationship was established, the on-line meetings only helped to develop the client-clinician connection. When you are talking with someone from your own home, seeing them in their own home environment, it makes the interactions very comfortable and sets everyone at ease. It added quite a lot to the “personal aspect” of therapy.
