Hi Bridget, That's a question that I, and others, have asked a lot. It's one I'll have to ask God when I get to heaven. Whether God actually "caused" it or "allowed" it to happen, God did not choose to take it away, or to "cure" me. One of my earlier counselors made the statement, "You have been invited to deal with this." And indeed I was. I have fallen back many times on the passage from the Scriptures (2 Corinthians 12:7-10), where Paul prays 3 times for deliverance from some disablity, and God's reply is: "My grace is sufficient for you. My strength is made perfect in weakness." I have prayed many more times for healing from stuttering, and in those prayers has come a strengthening of faith, an increased reliance on God, not to mention a host of people and experiences that would not have come into my life had I not had this battle. (That's the tip if the iceberg - late on a Tuesday evening.) I hope this helps.
