I loved reading your story and liked your analogy of stuttering as just a puzzle in life. I am taking a Stuttering class through my Speech Pathology program at WWU. You said that Speech Therapy just reinforced that you were different. As a student, I was just wondering what your therapy was like when you went. Do you think the therapy would be more ideal if it focused more on emotional aspects of stuttering and not so much on trying to fix it? I have read some other essays and it seems like a common view of Speech Therapy is that it is useless. A lot of people said that once they faced their fears and didn't focus on stuttering that their fluency increased. It also seems like support groups are great. What do you think? Thanks again for writing about your personal experience!!!
