Hi Michael! Once again, you and Judy Kuster have brought a very wonderful gift to the stuttering community worldwide: ISAD 8!!!! Thanks so much for your tireless efforts! . . . . . . as to your question concerning the percentage of individuals who use assistive devices for stuttering on a regular basis, I know of no definative literature. The results from several surveys of National Stuttering Association members that Lee Reeves and Scott Yaruss have conduct over the last decade indicated that very NSA members turn to alternative therapies. My "totally from the hip" guess is that the number would be (surprisingly) small - probably much less than 2% of people who stutter. Even with recent advances, the devices all have limitations, and aren't successful with all folks who stutter. But they certainly are a vital tool for some.
