Would greater dialogue be beneficial?

I recently attended a workshop in London where (in addition to the main agenda) the organisers assembled a panel of six persons who have made considerable strides in relation to their stuttering. The three hours session commenced with each panel member providing brief details of his/her personal history. The remaining time was taken up with questions and answers from the floor. Are such events of value? Should the speech-language profession encourage greater dialogue with those for whom stuttering is no longer an issue? Would it be of assistance to establish any possible commonalities? Your views would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Alan Badmington
