It's great to see a new variation of the medically-driven and often poorly interpreted notion of EBP. Shelly's comment about the ability of fluent speaking people(especially clinicians) being able to understand the stuttering experience is an important one. I think that SOME people/clinicians are able to do this. If an SLP can't they probably should be doing something else. I tried to address this issue in a article a year or so ago and maybe this will help. Manning, W. H. (2004). “How can you understand?
