G'day Bob, Great paper! I think you nailed it when you point out that the primary focus of much of the EBP discussion is only on ONE aspect of the concept. I think this is true not only for discussions of EBP related to stuttering but to SLP in general and probably comes about because the name itself leads people in that direction. In fact, even the definition adopted by ASHA, improved as it is over earlier conceptions of EBP, still implies that clinical expertise and client values should be integrated with "evidence" and so do not constitue "evidence" in and of themselves. Taking a post-modern view of knowledge, it could be argued that clinical expertise and client values/opinions constitute "evidence" that is just as valid as so-called scientific evidence. Thanks for putting a different spin on the EBP discussion - hopefully, it will generate novel discussion and take our conception of EBp to a new level.
