I am a SLP and college instructor. I see many fluency clients. I use voluntary stuttering with children and adults in the therapy sessions (similar to what you describe in a reply above, I do not call it voluntary stuttering with the younger kids, but I do play games where they demonstrate voluntary stuttering). I have never had my older clients or adults use purposeful stuttering outside of therapy though! So it is interesting to me that you assign it outside of therapy. I think for me I use it as a tool for them to control the stuttering and then to have them pull out of the voluntary stuttering using a technique. Anyways, I can imagine using voluntary stuttering differently now. However, I can only see this with older kids adults. Am I ight about that???? Thanks for the information.
