HI Gary, Thanks for your excellent article. So much of it was relevant to me, as I stutter the most in public speaking situations. It has been a challenge to "de-program" myself from thinking that it's always going to happen there. I've done some work with a therapist who helped reframe the meaning of my stuttering, and it was very helpful. I was interested in your suggestion of having someone monitor us. I have often asked people in my congregation to be astute observers and see what I do differently before, during or after a stuttering episode. Sometimes they've been able to pick up behaviors that I didn't notice.
