Brianne: Children's reactions to their stuttering often are pretty basic. They can be much easier to lead in discussions about feelings, but the comprehension of emotions and feelings are far less sophisticated. I've had good success with using drawing and puppets to help childen put their feelings about stuttering into words. Drawing can work as a facilitator suprisingly well for adults too. Working with children, remember that their questions are often simpler than they appear on the surface. They are looking for reasons and explanations to help them cope and to let others know what's happening within them. Thanks for the good question.
