Ashley: You raise several good questions. My comments differ from Bloodstein in that I see that PWS do different things (physically) when they approach a word upon which they fear they will struggle. Most PWS aren't aware (or aware enough) of these behaviors. In most cases they have become habit and the lack of awareness stems from the decreased cognition relating to the fear. In my experience, psychologists don't have sufficient experience with PWS, but they do have the technical skills. A SLP experienced in stuttering and interested enough in treating the psychological parameters can do a good job at this. As for the speak easy, its my perception that it could diminish self-esteem because the PWS is relying on something external (the message being "I can't do it myself". Thanks for your insights and questions.
