Alan: I have fewer references in dealing with self-limiting behaviors than experiences. Over time I have done what I felt was a defensible approach to these behaviors based upon what I have read, observed and personally experienced. I've learned that no one thing works for everyone; logic isn't a good weapon to attach emotional issues; and when the confrontational gradient is too steep, the client isn't able to be motivated to take that path. Best of luck and thanks for your questions and comments.
