Ed, As you have stated, there are some flaws in the studies that make it to press. I would also agree with you that just as one method does not fit all subjects, one method of inquiry does not fit all research questions. As I have argued, qualitative research methods can handle some of the issues that you have addressed. Recent papers by wonderful researchers like Susca and Healey, DiLollo and Manning, Margaret Leahey, and others have all addressed individual versus group results. The qualitative papers are not a better method......they are just an alternative method. Gifted researchers can fit the right technique to the right research.
