Katherine, One of the reasons you don't read much about Adult Onset Stuttering is because it is very rare for an adult to suddenly start stuttering without some sort of injury to the brain, altho I am beginning to think there are more of us out there than the experts know! There are no other stutterers in my immediate or extended family that I am aware of, nor do my children stutter. I did just recently start a new med for stuttering. One of the things it does is relaxes me, which sometimes makes it easier to speak, but not always. I was on meds almost 9 months before I started stuttering and there had been enough different ones that we knew it was not the meds. When I first started, we were looking for the cause and I think we considered everything we could. I have good days and bad days as far as the speech is concerned and it does not necessarily coincide with my good or bad days with the depression.
