We are trying to evaluate the effectiveness of the LP with school aged children. Therefore we do not use it in conjunction with other therapies. I think that it would be appropriate to give a treatment trial to see if fluency can be achieved with the LP before setting out on that course. The goals of most of the children that we see in our clinic is to stutter less and sound like other kids. When we have established the criteria for Stage 2 (Maintenance ) of the LP and children express other concerns, e.g., anxiety, etc. we might consult with the psychologist on our team before making further recommendations for dealing with those types of issues.
