My understanding of indirect therapy is that the child is not directly involved in treatment but that the parent is trained to make some modifications in speaking rate, language complexity, turn taking, etc. in order to increase the child's capacity for fluency. The Lidcombe Program is non programmed direct treatment in which the child is present.
