I am aware of ASHA's position paper on EBT. I agree with you that there are many ways to evaluate treatment outcomes and that I do in fact focus on client goals and objectives. My clear bias shows in the paper as my first objective is usually to decrease the behavior. This probably arises from the feedback that I have gotten from the children who tell me that that is their first objective. You are of course right that the clinical relationship involves more than just behavior control. I am fortunate to work in a setting where I have consultation with other professionals and am able to refer children with other concerns related to their stuttering to the other professionals on our team that are able to consult or offer a co-treatment.
