The Lidcombe Program is a direct behavioral treatment for preschool aged children that trains parents to provide verbal feedback for fluency and for unambiguous stuttering. It was developed by Mark Onslow and his colleagues at the Australian Stuttering Research Centre in Sydney. There is quite a lot published about this approach. The LP is most effective for children up to 6 years old. In our clinic we have used it successfully with school aged children up to about 11 years old. This program would not be appropriate for use with adults.
